Emerging Church Network

About ECN

ECN is a network of catalytic church planters working to develop authentic faith communities among emerging and unreached people groups in Texas.

To clarify:

  • Catalytic
    • able to lead multiple groups
    • able to lead multiple leaders
    • able to lead in multiple places
  • Emerging
    • linked by passion, world view, or ethnicity
    • characterized by rapid growth
    • newly formed or just coming into prominence

NOTE: The definition of the word “emerging” has become muddied over the last several years with the advent of new styles of worship, art, teaching, and structure. When we use the term “emerging”, we use it missiologicaly, not as a reference to style.

Authentic Faith Community (AFC)

A missional community that studies scripture and worships together, serves and disciples one another, all while striving to reveal the gospel of Jesus Christ within a specific, unreached culture or cultures.

AFC’s comprise a minimum of six people and are typically no larger than fifty.

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. (Colossians 1:27, 28)

Primary Characteristics of AFC:

  • Healthy Relationships
  • Personal Transformation
  • Missionary Focus
